Ready to put your technical skills to work where they matter most? As a Plant Operator, you'll play a key role in operating Yukon Energy's generating facilities and supporting the reliable delivery of electricity that Yukoners depend on every day.                        

What will you do: As a member of the Operations team, you will:

• Safely operate Yukon Energy's diesel and natural gas generating units and their auxiliary equipment.
• Monitor plant operations and respond to system disturbances and seasonal operating changes.
• Maintain compliance with corporate policies and safety standards while supporting the safe and efficient operation of Yukon Energy's generating facilities.

What you need to succeed: 

• Preference for 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate or relevant trade experience.
• Knowledge at the grade 12 level plus some vocational training in light maintenance and operation of electrical generation equipment
• Several years of previous related work experience.
• Forklift training
• LNG specific training (cryogenic properties and hazards)
• Proven history of operating electrical generation equipment
• A valid class 5 driver’s license.
• A valid First Aid certificate.
• WHIMIS and TDG training
• Fall Arrest training
• Confined space certificate
• Knowledge of Windows based computer software applications.
• Ability to work in a team and cross-cultural environment.
• A proven track record and commitment to safe procedures and encouraging a safe work environment.
