Here are a few quick facts about Yukon Energy:
We are the main generator and transmitter of electricity in Yukon. We sell wholesale to ATCO Electric Yukon and they distribute the power to most Yukoners.
In 2020, 86 per cent of the electricity we generated was renewable. This was lower than previous years because of low water levels and inflows into our hydro reservoirs.
We rely mostly on three hydro generating stations to produce power.
We have four diesel generating stations (used for backup and peaking).
We also have one liquefied natural gas (LNG) generating station (used for backup, peaking and when renewable sources of power are not available).
We have solar arrays on two of our buildings.
We have 1,100 kilometres of power lines.
We have 12,000 power poles.
We operate the longest wooden fish ladder in the world.
