Yukon is a vast area of wilderness. That's why Yukon Energy has to take careful steps to ensure that trees aren't allowed to grow too closely to our transmission lines. If a tree comes in contact with a power line, it can cause an outage or a public safety hazard. Transmission lines knocked down by trees can be "live", and live wires can kill.
Every year, Yukon Energy spends thousands of dollars to clear brush from around our power lines. If you notice that a tree is touching or is very close to one of our power lines, please contact us so that we can trim the branches.
It may be necessary from time to time for us to cross private property to do brushing or other maintenance or repair work on our lines.
For additional information on brushing around Yukon Energy power lines, see the attachments at the bottom of this page.
