Yukon Energy's contractor will begin transmission brushing work on July 6th, with work expected to continue through the end of the month.
This work will take place within Yukon Energy's transmission right-of-way between the Takhini Substation and the Carmacks Substation. Crews will begin approximately 3 km south of Horse Creek Road off the North Klondike Highway (near Lake Laberge) and will work northbound, brushing designated sections along the right-of-way.
Transmission brushing is the routine removal of trees, shrubs, and other vegetation within and around our transmission line right-of-way. Keeping vegetation clear helps maintain safe, reliable electricity service by reducing the risk of trees or branches coming into contact with power lines and ensuring crews have safe access for inspections and maintenance.
We appreciate the public's patience while this important maintenance work is underway. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at communications@yec.yk.ca.
