Spring Water Levels Update in Southern Lakes

Apr 01, 2025  Comment

You may soon start to notice lower water levels downstream of the Whitehorse dam. We are installing gates at the Lewes Control Structure, which will slow the dropping levels of Marsh Lake and downstream flows by about 20-30%, through to freshet.

Unlike the high waters of the last couple of years, Marsh Lake is trending around the lower end of the typical range, about half a metre below the long-term average.

This year, electricity is particularly important because of the extremely low water levels in Aishihik and the ongoing repair of one of its generators. During these times of low flow, we are also clearing trash racks and conducting preventative maintenance on the hydro units.
