Smoke at the Dawson Diesel Plant on February 22

Feb 22, 2025  Comment

If you were walking or driving by our Dawson diesel plant this afternoon, you might have noticed smoke or the Fire Department at the facility.

Shortly after 1 p.m this afternoon, a fire alarm in the diesel plant was set off by what we now suspect to be exhaust from one of our diesel engines. The four diesel engines running at the time were shut down immediately and on-call staff in the community and the Dawson Fire Department were called as a precaution and part of standard safety procedures.

The Fire Department has since left the diesel plant and confirmed that there was no evidence of a fire in the plant. There was also never risk to public safety or the facility.

Thank you to the staff and volunteers firefighters who responded to today's events so quickly. We appreciate all you do.
