On September 19, 2019, a trip at our Aishihik power plant caused a power outage that affected approximately 7,400 customers in communities across Yukon.
The outage began at approximately 3:50 in the afternoon. By 6:10 yesterday evening, power was restored to all customers.
Details about what caused the Aishihik power plant to trip are unknown. We're conducting a full review of the outage to determine why one of the generating units tripped and will take action to correct whatever is found to be the cause.
We recognize that power outages have an impact on Yukoners and thank those affected by the outage yesterday for their patience and understanding.
