Did you know you can extract the heat from cool outside air, water or the ground and use it to warm your home or business? It sounds counter intuitive but heat pumps do just that, using the same technology as a refrigerator. Heat pumps have been around for a long time, but are now becoming very popular options as people look for efficient ways to heat and cool their buildings.
If you'd like to learn more about this technology, drop by this month's Conversations in Conservation event, taking place next Thursday May 30th at 12 noon at the Westmark Hotel in Whitehorse. Roy Whiten of Green Heat will be the guest speaker. He's been installing heat pumps in Yukon for 14 years and uses one to heat his own home with Marsh Lake as the heat source.
Conversations in Conservation is a regular series hosted by Yukon Energy. The talks occur the last Thursday of every month over the lunch hour. They feature various speakers who cover a wide variety of energy conservation-related topics. These talks are free and open to everyone. Cookies and refreshments are provided.
