Boom Provides Added Safety

If you are in the vicinity of Schwatka Lake and our Whitehorse dam, you will notice a new boom that extends across the length of the dam and intake area.

This is a new safety feature we have added to help stop small boats that may have come too close to our dam from being pulled into the intake.

We ask boaters to stay well away from the dam and the boom. However in the event a small vessel does venture too close (perhaps because of a failed boat motor), the boom will provide some protection.
