Design considerations

Green spaces 

We’re expanding the substation towards Nisutlin Drive onto the strip of land we already own and that is covered in gravel. Doing this allows the Millennium Trail to stay lined with greenery. 

Limiting noise 

Like all transformers in the city, the new one will hum slightly, similar to what an electric toothbrush sounds like. As part of this project, we'll build a sound wall around the transformer. With the sound wall, noise from the transformer will be more comparable to what an indoor humidifier sounds like.
