Who we are:  Yukon Energy is the primary generator and transmitter of electrical energy in the Yukon territory, operating within the Traditional Territories of Yukon First Nations. What will you do:  As a key member of the Electrical Maintenance team, you will:

  • Perform technical maintenance, installations, and design work on electrical systems.
  • Assist in the management of capital and O&M projects, including protection, control, and other electrical initiatives.
  • Focus on installing new equipment and rebuilding existing assets to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Carry out and document all work in line with the Canadian Electrical Code and Yukon Energy’s policies and procedures.

What you need to succeed: 

  • A two-year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
  • Journeyman Electrician or Power System Electrician certification would be an asset.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience testing and maintaining protective relays.
  • Proficient in Windows based computer applications as well as manufacturing specific software, maintenance programs and electrical design software.
  • Ability to read and work off blueprints as well as interpret drawings, diagrams, and specifications on a variety of types of electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Experience with high voltage test equipment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong client service orientation with good interpersonal skills.
  • A proven track record and commitment to safe procedures and encouraging a safe work environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • A valid class-5 driver’s license and First Aid certificate as well as certification in WHIMS, TDG, and rigging and hoisting.

Compensation: Level 9: $49.94/hr-$59.65/hr PLUS Northern Allowance.
