Question: We have to replace our furnace this summer and have located an electric furnace that will store heat drawn during off peak hours at a lower cost, and release the heat when it is needed. This type of system could be good for everyone as it avoids drawing energy at peak times when the load is the greatest. Also, of course, if off peak rates are available, there is a cost saving for the consumer. My question is when off-peak rates are likely to be available in the Yukon?
Answer: Yukon Energy is certainly watching other jurisdictions that have off-peak rates and we may pursue this in the future, but I don't expect to see off-peak rates in Yukon in the immediate future.
