What will you do:

As a vital member of the Plant Operator team, you will:

  • Adheres to the Corporation’s safety standards by following approved Safe Work Practices and both Worker- and Operator-Administered Protection Plans.
  • Operates and monitors prime movers (including rental units) and auxiliary equipment in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and readings on plant and rental generators and associated equipment.
  • De-energizes, isolates, re-energizes, and returns plant equipment and auxiliary systems to service in accordance with established procedures.
  • Performs or assists with maintenance and repair of generating units, auxiliary systems, infrastructure, and yard equipment.
  • Coordinates and oversees contractors for operational support activities including building and yard maintenance, spill response, remediation, snow removal, and waste management.
  • Manages plant inventory, including ordering, receiving, and tracking parts and supplies.
  • Assists with or performs month-end plant readings and meter readings as required.
  • Acts as the initial site contact and lead during emergency situations.

What you need to succeed:

  • Knowledge at the grade 12 level plus some vocational training in light maintenance and operation of electrical generation equipment
  • WHIMIS and TDG training
  • Fall Arrest training
  • A valid First Aid certificate
  • Several years of previous related work experience
  • Preference for relevant trade experience
  • Proven history of operating electrical generation equipment
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to work in a team and diverse cultural environment

Compensation: Level 7: $40.32-48.14 per hour plus a Northern Allowance and Location Allowance Package.
