Who we are: Yukon Energy is the primary generator and transmitter of electrical energy in the Yukon territory, operating within the Traditional Territories of Yukon First Nations. What will you do:

  • Plan, organize, and direct mechanical utility projects from start to finish under the supervision of the Manager, Mechanical Engineering.
  • Develop mechanical engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare written reports for mechanical utility maintenance and construction programs.
  • Manage all phases of the project, including concept, design, construction, and closeout.

What you need to succeed:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with P.Eng. Designation in Canada and must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Yukon.
  • Experience and knowledge of power utility maintenance and/or operations.
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical engineering theory, design and operating mechanism/parameters of hydro-generator and thermal units.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering codes and standards, and regulations that apply to electrical utility generation facilities. 
  • Ability to work independently on engineering projects.
  • Working knowledge of Project Management processes and principles.
  • Ability to perform project manager’s role for electric utility projects.
  • Excellent ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and outside agents.
  • Ability to create drawings and write specifications, prepare cost estimates, prepare construction contracts and request for proposals.
  • Must be self-motivated and versatile and thrive on a variety of work.
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license.

 Compensation: Competitive salary and benefit package.
