Yukon Energy is looking for individuals interested in working on a casual and on-call basis at our Dawson City facility. Our Plant Operators work as part of the Mechanical Maintenance team and are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the electrical generating units: hydro, diesel and gas and their respective auxiliary equipment. The work will involve regular plant checks on generating and peripheral equipment; assisting in system restoration following a system disturbance; providing assistance and support to other staff as required.
This position involves heavy lifting, working at heights and in confined spaces. Shift work and some travel will be required.
Yukon Energy is the main generator and transmitter of electrical energy in the territory. We are a renewable company with 94 percent of our electricity coming from hydro and we were the first northern utility and only the fifth in Canada to receive a Sustainable Electricity CompanyTM designation from the Canadian Electricity Association.

YOU'RE THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IF:
You have education at the Grade 12 level plus some vocational training in light maintenance and operation of heavy equipment, and several years of related work experience. Strong interpersonal skills, experience with Windows-based computer programs and a valid Class 5 driver’s license are required. WHMIS, confined space and first aid training would be an asset.
