(Whitehorse) – Yukon Energy has been recognized by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) for the corporation’s commitment to Yukon First Nation governments, businesses, and communities. The national organization has designated Yukon Energy as a Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) Committed company. It means the CCAB is confident that Yukon Energy is committed to establishing and growing meaningful relationships with local First Nations.

“We invest significant resources into building and maintaining relations with the First Nations community in the territory,” Yukon Energy president Andrew Hall said. “In pursuing this designation, we are required to show success in four key areas: employment, business development, community investment, and community engagement.”

“This process demonstrates to Yukon First Nations that we are commited to benchmarking our efforts and performance against best practices contained in the PAR program,” Hall added.

The Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business’ PAR program is one of the few around the world that focuses on aboriginal relations. For more information about CCAB, visit their website
