Yukon Energy Launches Public Blog

‘Lend us an ear; we’ll give you a voice.’ That’s the idea behind a public blog that Yukon Energy has just launched.

“The utility industry is a complicated one, especially here in Yukon where there are two separate utilities providing customers with power,” Yukon Energy spokesperson Janet Patterson said. “It’s become clear to us that we need to do a better job explaining who we are, what we do, how we operate and what we stand for.”

Blogs are websites where visitors can read regularly updated postings and leave comments.

“The blog is a mechanism to communicate directly with Yukoners,” Patterson added. “It gives the public an opportunity to become better informed about Yukon Energy and provide us with feedback.”

Yukon Energy is the first corporation in the territory to establish a blog and is one of the first electrical utilities in Canada to do so.

Yukon Energy’s blog topics will cover topics such as explaining the difference between Yukon Energy and Yukon Electrical Company, helping people understand how to read their power bill and examining what Yukon Energy is doing to help reduce the number of power outages.
