Yukon Energy's Whitehorse Rapids fishladder is open for the season. This facility has become one of the city's most popular destinations for visitors and locals alike. Here's what's great about a visit to the ladder:

  • It gives you a chance to see local freshwater fish (all summer) and Chinook salmon (August) travel through the ladder
  • You can get up close and personal with the fish in our aquariums
  • You can use our high powered microscope to age fish by counting the rings on their scales (like rings on a tree trunk)
  • You can check out our underwater camera system and our ‘salmon cam’ that allows viewing of the fish from a home computer (it will be hooked up within the next several days)
  • You have an opportunity to listen to elders’ stories in our First Nations tent (starting in July)
  • You can learn from our many information panels and displays that can be found throughout the property
  • You can see our special public art piece, created by dozens of Yukoners

Entrance is by donation (suggested $3 per person) or ask about our $10 season pass that will give you and your entire family entrance to the fish ladder all summer. Hope to see you there.
